The Between the Sheets cocktail was a popular high-octane rum drink from the Prohibition era. It has an interesting flavor profile that might tempt you to drink them all night, but be careful, they pack a punch. Many classic cocktails evolve over the years and the BTS is no exception. We’ve seen this recipe altered to include various liqueurs, vodka and even tequila. Some of these variations were more successful than others.
Our friend Nathan Burdette has put an interesting twist on the classic Between the Sheets and it’s one that we very much approve of. His subtle changes to the original have created an updated masterpiece that has the same easy-drinking qualities of the original but with the added character of Denizen Aged White Rum.
When we asked Nathan about his updated version he tells us that “Denizen becomes as much of a feature as the sweet, spicy and floral notes from Metaxa and the zesty aromas of bitter and sweet orange peel found in Cointreau.” On top of that, he’s given it a really cool name, Dionysus and the Erotes.
Give this one a try and let us know what you think. Cheers.
