The best tiki drinks bring together an array of exotic elements to create a one of a kind experience. Whether it’s the aroma and flavors of the ingredients or the intoxicating visuals from specialty mugs and garnishes, you are surely in for something creative and original. Much like the south seas decor of classic tiki bars, the cocktails were meant to be a form of escapism.
This month’s Rum Mixology cocktail is called the Smoked Banana Daiquiri and stays true to the tiki tradition. It was created by Zac Overman and will quickly transport you to the islands by using a spectrum of interesting ingredients along with Denizen Merchant’s Reserve Rum. We admit that the Crema de Mezcal or Giffard Banane du Bresil might involve a trek to your favorite spirits shop, but we promise that you will be rewarded handsomely with an excellent drink when all is said and done
As always, give this a try and let us know what you think.
Smoked Banana Daiquiri
1 1/2 oz Denizen Merchant’s Reserve Rum
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
3/4 oz Del Maguey Crema de Mezcal
3/4 oz Giffard Banane du Bresil
3/4 oz 1:1 Simple Syrup
1/2 Ripe Banana, Sliced
1/2 cup Crushed Ice
Blend all ingredients for five seconds and pour into a hurricane glass or tiki mug. If you are feeling extra creative, garnish with a banana dolphin.
